I am mainly interested in modern painting. Since obtaining my fine art degree in 2002 I have been exhibiting my work nationwide and working on the many commissions I receive.
I have eclectic tastes and draw my inspiration from many different sources - I think that this is reflected in the variety of my work. I am currently working on pop art paintings on the theme of celebrity and modern abstract canvases, although my early work is a lot more figurative in nature. I work extensively in a sketch book/diary collecting cuttings from the media, making drawings and writing lists. I often apply digital techniques to the images and photographs I have collected before starting the final paintings, which are normally completed on a box canvas. Often the ideas for one painting will feed into others, so what started out as an experiment on a purely abstract idea can be used as a technique on a pop art painting.
What is common in all of my work is my love of experimenting with different effects, textures and finishes through the use of different media. Although I use traditional stretched canvas to produce most of my work, I like to experiment with less traditional and diverse mediums, such as enamels, varnishes, glitters and collage alongside oil and acrylic paints.
